Job summary

The Trust delivers high quality Clinical Research Trials to older adults and other patient groups, working in partnership with the North West Coast Clinical Research Network and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust continues to develop and expand its capacity and capability in undertaking Clinical Research within its Research Unit. As one of the research nurses for the Clinical Research Facility you will enjoy working in a busy environment and support research activity across the Trust. The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with the Senior Research Nurse, Clinical Research Nurse Manager, the wider research team, Network and Trust colleagues in order to support the active research portfolio at the Trust and ensure all studies across the organisation, within the NIHR portfolio, are undertaken to the highest standards within timelines and meeting recruitment targets.

Main duties of the job

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (L&SCFT) is a partner of the North West Clinical Research Network which forms part of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). One of the aims of the NIHR, which was established by the Department of Health, is to improve the speed, quality and integration of research, ultimately resulting in improved patient care. North West Clinical Research Network supports and facilitates the delivery of clinical trials and other well-designed studies in most disease areas.

L&SCFT would like to establish a Research Nurse post to support research activity across the Trust. The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with the Senior Research Nurse, Clinical Research Nurse Manager, Research Department, North West Clinical Research Network and Trust colleagues in order to support the active research portfolio at the Trust.

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
