Job summary

Family Safeguarding Teams

Family Safeguarding Teams aim to keep the highest risk children and families in Lancashire together, where safe to do so, whilst improving health and educational outcomes for the children and reducing physical and emotional harm.

This is where you will have the ability to make a difference.

The teams are multi-disciplinary and are made up of social care practitioners and adult specialists working with children and parents in relation to domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse. These specialists will be provided by the National Probation Service (domestic abuse), NHS (mental health) and CGL/WAWY (substance misuse). The teams will be supported by both the management team in LCC as well as line management from their own specialist function so you will be supported by the NHS, LCC and the teams that you work within. This is a new service and your well-being is as key as those to which you provide support.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will be expected to;

  • The Senior Clinical Psychologist will work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams and Services provided by adult specialists to parents/carers.
  • To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to service users formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
  • To provide specialist psychological assessments of service users referred to the nominated team(s).
  • To work with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist to plan and deliver training, MDT support and consultation. The post will be professionally linked to a large and supportive psychology network within the Trust. We also have strong links with the local Clinical Psychology doctorate programmes

  • oDoctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.

Knowledge

Essential

  • oAn increased level of knowledge relevant to this post equivalent to a post-graduate diploma (in addition to entry level qualification)
  • oDoctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
  • oEvidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS by completion of CPD log demonstrating a minimum of 40 hours per year
