Job summary

Community Care Division has a number of exciting opportunities providing leadership and oversight to our clinical teams, working in partnership with service users, carers and other key stakeholders to ensure effectiveness of outcomes.

Our staff deliver community health services to people in their own homes, in locations including health centres and clinics, NHS Walk-In Centres and older adults intermediate care is provided at several facilities across the Division.

We also deliver specialist dental health care and therapy services. Our teams work closely with GPs and other health and social care services to ensure patients are cared for with the best support, closer to their home.

We know that the borough or 'Place' we live in and the communities we belong to affect our health in a number of ways and by working together, we know that we can drastically improve population health.

The successful candidates will be required to provide strategic operational and clinical leadership using the most up to date and evidence-based theory and practice and offer expert clinical advice for service users, carers, staff and other professionals.

The post holders will be able to demonstrate advanced competence in highly complex decision making, assessment and the management of clinical needs within Community and Inpatient Services.

Main duties of the job

This is a 12 month secondment where the successful candidate will provide clinical and professional leadership to the Speech and Language Therapy workforce and be professionally accountable for the planning and delivery of high-quality Speech and Language Therapy across the Division, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and efficient person-centred care.

Provide visible leadership, lead and inspire the Speech and Language Therapy workforce within the Division and act as role model ensuring that the Registered and Support Workforce within Speech and Language Therapy are empowered to participate in and influence decision making at all levels.

To lead on a number of quality and clinical governance matters and initiatives within Speech and Language Therapy as directed by the Head of Allied Health Professionals and support the delivery of the Trust's Clinical Strategy and Quality Account which includes the delivery of Zero Harm Perfect Care Goals in the Division.

To contribute to the development of high-quality innovative services through the Trust's professional and clinical governance frameworks, including the implementation of national guidance and lead on and promote best evidence-based practice to achieve clinical excellence and deliver service improvements in teams where there is Speech and Language Therapy provision

JOB PURPOSE

To be responsible for providing professional and clinical leadership to the Speech and Language Therapy workforce within the Division contributing to the development of high-quality Speech and Language Therapy services through the Trusts professional and clinical governance frameworks, including the implementation of national guidance and leading on and promoting best evidence-based practice in Speech and Language Therapy to achieve clinical excellence and ensure the highest levels of clinical practice and professional standards are delivered.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES of the role include:

1. To provide clinical and professional leadership to the Speech and Language Therapy workforce and be professionally accountable for the planning and delivery of high-quality Speech and Language Therapy across the Division, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and efficient person centred care.

2. Provide visible leadership, lead and inspire the Speech and Language Therapy workforce within the Division and act as role model ensuring that the Registered and Support Workforce within Speech and Language Therapy are empowered to participate in and influence decision making at all levels.

3. To act as a clinical expert in complex cases and offer assistance in resolving complex clinical Speech and Language Therapy issues, alongside providing direct clinical care as a Registered Speech and Language Therapist.

To undertake specific specialised Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention as appropriate, identifying Speech and Language Therapy goals as part of the overall care plan to deliver and implement person-centred individual and/or group interventions, evaluating treatment to measure progress and ensure clinical effectiveness as appropriate.

5. To provide representation for Speech and Language Therapy and other Allied Health Professions in decision-making, raising awareness of the contribution of Speech and Language Therapy and promoting the role of Speech and Language Therapy within services and clinical teams.

6.
