Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting for Bank Band 3 Dietetic Assistants and Bank Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioners across our Community Dietetic teams in Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Knowsley. Please state on your application what band of post you are applying for.

Main duties of the job
Bank working allows you to negotiate your working patterns your employer, ensuring flexibility, especially for those who wish to work reduced hours, those who wish to work term time only, those studying, approaching retirement or travelling. You may wish to pick up bank hours whilst you are undergoing recruitment checks in other organisations, ensuring you can continue to develop your knowledge, skills and experience and have a continued source of income.
Successful candidates will enter a bank pool of Dietitians and Dietetic Assistants and Assistant Practitioners. You will undergo mandatory training, so you are ready to start if any bank posts become available. If a job opportunity arises, our bank team will contact you to see if you are interested in any of the posts. If you are offered a bank post, you will receive a warm welcome and local induction to the team. You will also work with other Dietetic Assistants and Assistant Practitioners and Apprentice Dietitians who can offer peer support.

We cover a wide range of specialities including oral nutrition support, diabetes, gastroenterology, home enteral tube feeding, IBD, IBS, paediatrics (in St Helens and Knowsley), transitional care and support for oncology patients. Our Assistant team support the Dietetic team with e-registration of patients on tube feeds, clinical administration, patient assessments and reviews and care home and patient education. We are actively involved in Student Training, Dietetic Apprenticeships and training and development of staff and patients. We are a large and friendly team who offer flexible working patterns and clinical supervision and peer support. We work closely with acute trusts across the region, particularly in complex feeding MDTs and admission avoidance.
Within Dietetics and other professions, bank staff can help to temporarily fill vacancies whilst permanent recruitment is underway. In some cases, bank staffing may facilitate ongoing service provision when and short-term pilot, audit or project opportunities without the commitment to a permanent contract

Essential
- NVQ Level 2, with an aim to complete NVQ Level 3 at a later date.
Desirable
- Other qualifications linked to role i.e., gym instructor qualification.
Knowledge/Experience

- Experience of working in the NHS, secure care, or dietetic environment.
- Basic awareness of the impact of ageing and common conditions on functional ability.
- Knowledge of lone working and associated risk management.
- An awareness and understanding of moving and handling need of patients
