Job summary

The Mental Health Triage and Response team is a dynamic service which incorporates the multi award winning Street Triage Service and the Health based Places of Safety which fall within the Merseycare Footprint.

It plays an important role in Merseycare's response to the national roll out of Right Care Right Person across the region.

Part of this development is an expansion of the current provision of Mental Health Response Vehicles alongside Northwest Ambulance Service.

We are looking for experienced practitioners and this role is not suitable for individuals who are newly qualified or are yet to qualify.

Due to the specialized nature of this role pre-application discussion with team is recommended.

Although the bases are Clock View & Hollins Park Hospital - Triage Car Practitioners are required to work across various sites alongside our partners in Cheshire, Merseyside and British Transport Police Forces and Northwest Ambulance Service

Shift times vary across a 24hr period in order to support our partner agencies and our places of safety.

Main duties of the job

The role involves working in collaboration with Police and Ambulance colleagues at a variety of bases and in the community. The service works towards the vulnerability model supporting people with mental health issues, substance misuse and safe guarding needs. The post holder(s) needs to demonstrate the ability to effectively recognize, assess and manage risk in an autonomous role.

The role also requires the formulation of safe and effective treatment plans for patients in crisis situations.

Another aspect of this position is supporting Emergency Services and service users at the point of crisis via a dedicated telephone service and health based places of safety

The core role includes; face to face assessment, specialist mental health assessments, supporting and sharing information with the wider emergency services community and acting in an advisory capacity in regards to mental health and capacity law.

Participate in regular clinical and managerial supervision as per Trust policy.

Participate in supervision to monitor standards of service user care and documentation.

Assist with screening and telephone triage of referrals, prioritizing as appropriate. Provide information for referrers, service users and carers.

  • Appropriate professional qualification or experience at Degree Level e.g. RMN, AHP, Social Worker
  • Evidence of post registration study / continuing professional development e.g. Mentorship in Practice

  • Working towards master level education
