Job summary
The Healthy Knowsley Service is a health improvement service that is part of The Life Rooms portfolio of services. The Service has recently expanded to incorporate a new work stream delivering an oral health promotion programme to Early Years Settings and Care Homes across Knowsley.
The post holder will be tasked with facilitation of training within the oral health Promotion programme to staff in early years settings, schools and care homes within Knowsley. This will include promoting the oralhealth agenda and providing support and training to staff working in the target groups. The post holder will deliver the formal training programme and provide guidance to staff in settings where necessary toincrease prevalence of good oral health.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will facilitate supervised tooth brushing programmes in early years settings. This will rely on the development of relationships with stakeholders, to encourage engagement with the programme; training staff to deliver a supervised tooth brushing scheme and completing quality assurance visits to assess the effective delivery of the scheme.
The post holder will promote good oral health practice in care homes by delivering training on Mouth Care Matters. This post holder will liaise with stakeholders in Care Homes to arrange training to be delivered at suitable times and venues.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES1. To assist in the provision of evidence-based training to upskill staff working in care homes,schools and early years settings in order to promote and deliver good care with confidence.2. Support the Healthy Knowsley Service Senior Health Improvement Practitioner to support promotion of oral health Standards, taking responsibility for own allocated workloads of staff from partnership groups.3. Engages in the facilitation of learning and development interventions with colleagues from the Healthy Knowsley Service team and from the wider organisation.4. Liaise directly with Lead Practitioners and/or subject matter experts in amending sessions asrequired.5. To provide educational practical sessions in oral health training under the supervision of the Senior Health Improvement Practitioner.6. To quality check oral health promotion practices (supervised tooth brushing) in early yearssettings to ensure that practice is completed in line with training provided.7. To maintain competencies relating to oral health promotion.8. To assist in the production of all relevant documentation to support the administrative process required for all oral health programmes.9. To provide advice and guidance acting as a mentor within the work setting where appropriate.10. To assist in training to ensure that it is delivered consistently across staff groups and meets thelearning outcomes established by subject matter experts and /or the Healthy Knowsley Practitioners.11. Participate in projects relating to the Healthy Knowsley Service within agreed time frames.12. Participate in the ordering and maintenance of Healthy Knowsley Service equipment andsupplies and at all times recognise the need for careful and effective use of resources.13. Participate in the ordering and distribution of oral health promotion supplies to early years settings, care homes and schools.14. To produce all course material to the agreed standard for topics delivered.15. To maintain appropriate training records in line with existing reporting systems in Healthy Knowsley Service.16. To maintain own level of competency undertaking research and attending relevant updatecourses.17. Coordinate and undertake session planning and implementation of educational requirements of staff on the Oral Health Promotion sessions.18. Assist managers to maintain a conducive learning environment for all learners in the clinical setting.19. To work consistently across the organisation liaising with all members of the multidisciplinary team in order to improve educational outcomes.20. Actively participate in service and team development.21. Contribute to the effective and efficient use of resources.22. Understand trust policies and clinical guidelines.
