Job summary

The Trust is seeking 1 Consultant Psychiatrist for the Park Lodge CMHT.This post is one of two CMHT general adult consultant psychiatrist posts covering the Park Lodge CMHT.

This post has become vacant following the previous postholder leaving the post.

This post serves a population of approximately 58,000 and currently has a caseload of 310 This is a demographically mixed area overall, but with some areas of social deprivation and also some drug and alcohol- related difficulties consistent with an urban environment. The caseload is still expected to reduce further, as many patients within the caseload are of low complexity and will be able to be moved back to Primary Care with the additional support of the newly formed Primary Care Mental Health Teams. The postholder will support strategic service development and business planning.

The size of the resulting catchment area is below the average for the Trust and the current caseload size is also below the median.

The post holder will carry no responsibility for inpatients.

The post currently attracts a 10% R&R payment which will be reviewed next year.

Main duties of the job

To supervise and support team members who carry out assessments of patients referred to the team.

To carry out comprehensive psychiatric assessments and provide treatment for patients.

Supporting staff to manage psychiatric emergencies.

To conduct patient reviews and lead Multidisciplinary reviews, patient reviews and multi-professional meetings.

To be the responsible clinician for the purposes of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and carry out duties in accordance with the code of practice.

To carry out comprehensive Risk Assessments and participate in Trust's risk management processes such as Health Risk Assessment and Management Meetings (H-RAMM) and Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangement (MAPPA) Meetings

To provide medical leadership to the team
