Job summary

Liverpool Wheelchair Service is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our team.

The successful candidate will provide assessment and provision of wheelchairs and pressure management to clients within the Liverpool GP population.

You will be joining an experienced and established team who are friendly and supportive. The Band 5 role will provide you with an opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience of both children and adults. Many of our patients will present with complex multi- pathologies. You will undertake comprehensive assessments of service users with a variety of physical, cognitive and/ or learning disabilities. Identification of social and environmental issues that may impact on the final equipment recommendations is also key to providing a holistic posture/ pressure management solution with a wheelchair.

The service are specialists in postural assessment and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and awareness in 24 hour postural management.

We are a multi disciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Clinical Engineers and Assistant Practitioners. We have a dedicated admin and warehouse team and purpose built facilities.

Our team provide and attend regular training to develop skills and knowledge both internal and external. We hold regular peer support and clinical focus sessions to support reflective practice and individual learning needs.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of clinical care to a defined population.

Supported by senior practitioners, they will deliver care within the boundaries of their role.

They will work effectively and collaboratively within the team to meet the needs of the patients, support the delivery of policy and procedures and provide clinical leadership.

Ensure the delivery of the quality strategy within the designated area incorporating establishment of systems and processes.

Provide therapy input within the wheelchair service as part of the wider Community Equipment & Disability Advice Service.

The post holder will provide interventions for service users with a wide range of posture and mobility needs.

To provide interventions in a variety of locations, including the service users own home, nursing homes, schools and wheelchair clinics.
