Main duties of the job
The Children's service provides support to children, young people and their families within a progressive universal model of service delivery dependant on assessed need. The service offers every child/family a programme of screening, immunisations, developmental reviews and information and guidance to support parenting and healthy choices as defined by The Healthy Child Programme (Department of Health, 2008).
The post holder will work in collaboration with partner agencies both voluntary and statutory to achieve good health outcomes for children and their families.
The Community Nursery Nurse (CNN) is an integral member of the Children's team. The post holder will support the Health Visitor in their work with children and families, with the overall aim of helping each identified child to achieve its full potential. The work of the CNN will be part of a planned programme of care within the Healthy Child programme (0 - 19) delegated by the Health Visitor, who has completed the initial assessment.
All activities undertaken by the Nursery Nurse will be at the discretion/delegation of the Health Visitor/School Health, after appropriate in-service training has been given, and level of competency demonstrated.
The post holder will ensure the delivery of the quality strategy within the designated area incorporating establishment of systems and processes.
