Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two band 8a Modern Matron positions within the Secure Care Division of Mersey care NHS Foundation Trust.

The division is responsible for specialised secure mental health and learning disability services, in low, medium and high secure settings for service users with a primary classification of mental illness, personality disorders, learning disabilities and autism.

You will be required to have substantive post qualification and managerial experience within Mental Health / Learning Disabilities services. You will provide key leadership and therefore, you will possess strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate and influence others. You will be required to have good inter-personal skills , be a creative thinker, lead by example and have the ability to work effectively with external stakeholders and commissioners.

The successful candidate will join a the divisions leadership team in providing and developing services that we are proud of.

Allocations are based on service need* and will be confirmed upon completion of individuals recruitment checks.

Main duties of the job

The management of a number of wards / areas within agreed budgets, providing leadership and direction to staff. To promote and maintain the quality of care and treatment provided for service users. To liaise and communicate effectively with other disciplines and agencies involvedin the care, treatment and rehabilitation of service users.

Essential

  • RMN/RNLD/RNMH qualification or equivalent
  • NMC Registration
  • Extensive post qualification experience
  • Significant managerial experience
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal development
  • Masters level or professional qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Post Registration Management qualification
  • Teaching & assessing on Clinical Practice or equivalent
  • Significant experience within a Service providing for clients who exhibit offending behaviour
  • Diploma qualification in: Clinical, Managerial and Education

Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of working as a senior manager
  • Experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities with complex needs/offending behaviour who require care in a secure/community environment
  • Be proficient in budgetary management
  • Be able to work under own initiative
  • Be able to manage a large team of staff
  • Experience of recruitment and selection process
  • The ability to find creative solutions to management issues
  • Ability to effectively plan and deliver services
  • An appreciation of the NHS national strategic drivers
  • An ability to manage and investigate complaint
