Job summary

Are you a registered or student nurse (mental health/learning disabilities) with a passion for delivering outstanding care? If so, we want to hear from you.

We're recruiting registered (band 5) mental health and learning disability nurses as well as 2nd year students. We'd also welcome applications from those who are returning to a career in nursing.

We're holding a recruitment event in Liverpool City Centre on the 14th April 2023 where you will be given a comprehensive overview of the Trust, be able to discuss the many and varied opportunities that are provided by a trust serving more than 11 million people and will be interviewed on the day.

We have vacancies across all of our services with various shift patterns on a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year basis.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care within a multi-disciplinary environment within the framework of Effective Care Co-ordination (ECC).

During preceptorship, the post holder will carry out range of duties under the supervision of a manager or preceptor.

Following the successful completion of a comprehensive preceptorship the post holder will be able to carry out the full range of duties defined within the job description. The post holder will be expected to take charge of the unit.

Mental Health Care

These clinical divisions provide mental health, brain injury, addiction and child and adolescent mental health services in different areas across Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Warrington. We are looking for nursing and health care assistants for our inpatient wards. Posts will be based in: complex care, older peoples services, adult acute mental health, specialist and rehabilitation wards.

Secure Care

This clinical division is responsible for providing specialised mental health and learning disability services in low, medium and high secure settings for service users with a primary classification of mental illness, and personality disorders. Our nursing assistants must be able to demonstrate compassion and empathy to our patients, working to improve the quality of care within a secure/forensic environment. In this division youll gain experience in forensic environments.

The medium secure unit provides services for people with learning disabilities too. Here we provide services that offer people progress through pathways to more independent community living. Our service users typically have a range of complex needs, require support in medium and low secure services, and may have been in contact with the Ministry of Justice.

Byron ward is an assessment and treatment facility for adults with learning disability and or autism who require specialist support. The aim is to understand functions of behaviours and access mental health which cannot be carried out within the community. The teams vision is to support service users through assessment, engagement and activity to achieve a timely discharge.

A recruitment and retention premia is offered in this clinical division of up to £4,034.
