The post holder will work autonomously as part of a multi-disciplinary Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service delivering a high quality practical and preventative occupational health & Wellbeing Service to colleagues, underpinned through relevant evidence-based practice.
To operate within Trust and contracts policies and departmental procedures and be responsible for maintaining their professional development, keeping up to date with issues relating to nursing and occupational health practice.

Main duties of the job
To provide specialist guidance and support to managers and staff, without direct supervision in accordance with national legislation and local policies, procedures and protocols. Offer specialist support assisting the Clinical OHWB Lead Nurse Specialist in the day to day running of the clinical service, guided by broad occupational and national policies and principles.

To demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise relating to a wide range of occupations in respect of work-related health issues.
Provide a professional clinical occupational health nursing service of a high standard to employees and visitors to the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service including health screening of prospective employees and health monitoring/statutory surveillance of existing employees, including referrals due to impact of health on work and vice versa and to support individuals to return to work.
In the absence of the Clinical OHWB Lead Nurse Specialist take responsibility for the Occupational Health and Wellbeing service including the supervision of nursing and of the administration staff and provide cover for/assistance to colleagues within the department.
Manage, plan and co-ordinate the vaccinations and immunisation programmes across the Trust and provides advice to employees at risk. This may involve allocating and reallocating tasks and situations, adjusting plans as required and making recommendations in respect of reasonable adjustments.
Perform comprehensive assessments of patient needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs.
Provide highly specialist advice concerning patients and their wellbeing in work. Implement specialist health and wellbeing programmes across the Trust to support the education and wellbeing of employees.
Interpret and analyse complex information which is made up of several components, examples include, complex safeguarding cases, and blood sample interpretation from the Department of Health guidance.
Provide support and advice to all employees for accidents and illnesses arising at work using evidence-based advice and following departmental guidelines.
Provide highly sensitive and complex advice and information to Trust Managers to support with colleague health and wellbeing.
