Job responsibilities

Design, deliver and evaluate training on a daily basis to enable staff to effectively use clinical and non-clinical healthcare systems, including actively contributing to the extensive training schedule required to meet the requirements of national and local projects.

Undertake development of effective training resources including, user guides, quick reference guides, training videos and eLearning tutorials.

Support the Digital Skills Training Manager to maintain online portals and learning management systems to ensure online content is up to date and accessible for learners.

Have a comprehensive understanding and detailed knowledge of a wide range of healthcare and Digital systems. This must be sufficiently comprehensive to be able to deliver training in a range of modules and applications to end users, champions, and subject matter experts.

Undertake testing of new or developmental Digital systems and equipment, making recommendations regarding modifications to ensure that it is fit for purpose; this could be both hardware and software.

Assist in the development and maintenance of training systems. This will include creating and inputting dummy data, ensuring that the training environment can be used by all levels of staff, whilst adhering to the relevant project plans and timescales.

Receive, assess, and respond to user queries, providing problem solving support and follow-up training, if appropriate. This includes providing a help-desk style service, specifically for training related issues, ensuring that all queries are answered and resolved in a timely manner.

Work closely with the Digital Skills Training Manager in designing, planning, and delivering refresher training for clinical and support staff.

Work collaboratively with services and project teams to identify project training requirements, support the review of process maps and the development of training plans.

Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of training delivery through delegate feedback, evaluation surveys and assessment results.

Support learners to complete formative and summative assessments to assess how learners are progressing with their training, offering ongoing support where required.

Actively support and contribute to the development and delivery of workshops, presentations, and user groups to be delivered which promote best practice and demonstrate the scope of the IT Training Service provision.

Assist with relevant Training Needs Analysis and development of Training Plans to meet the needs identified.

Contribute to the publication of communications including advertisements, hints and tips, newsletters, and updates to support users.

Ensure that all master copies of training documentation are updated in line with the document review cycle. Liaise with the Lead Trainer to periodically review and assess training materials and methods, to ensure best practice and a high-quality service is maintained.

Support delivery against Key Performance Indicator targets and the production of regular reports relating to performance and supporting information to explain improvements or degradation in service.

Foster a positive approach to change management and offer ongoing support to colleagues involved.

Continue to develop skills to support evolving digital technologies and new ways of delivering training.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Attainment of appropriate training qualifications or equivalent experience e.g., PTLLS, Award in Education and Training
• ECDL, Microsoft Office Specialist, NHS Skills Pathway or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Experience of training in the use of IT systems
• Experience of introducing new systems or change to systems and providing 'handholding' support
• Demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of training courses and documentation
• Experience of problem solving and offering support to users in respect of healthcare systems software
• Experience of developing training packages to meet client and training provision requirements
• A comprehensive understanding of how information contributes to effective healthcare
• Experience of systems acceptance testing procedures and evaluation of system output requirements

Desirable

• Understanding of the operation of clinical and non-clinical IT systems within NHS settings
