Dependent upon which role you are appointed to, you may also be required to be part of a rota to support the dispensary. This will involve a small commitment to be part of a week end rota, to work a four-hour shift on site at Maghull Health Park, although this is only relevant to specific roles.
You have the opportunity to ask questions at two virtual information sessions, hosted by the Chief and Deputy Chief Pharmacists, where you will be introduced to the aims and vision for this service to help inform your application.
These sessions have been scheduled for Monday 21 August 2023 12.00 -13.00 and Wednesday 6 September 13.00 - 14.00.

Main duties of the job
You will participate in the medicines management 7-day supply service. Under the guidance of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy Higher Level support workers, you will undertake a range of duties within the trust's medicines management team for example dispensary and stores. You will receive, supply & dispense medicines trust wide in line with standard operating procedures. You will assist in the efficient economical running of the pharmacy service by the maintenance of defined stock levels of pharmaceutical products in wards and departments, including at the medicines management department. You will support service provision by working flexibly in line with the hours of operation and will be required to undertake duties at any location within the Trust in order to meet service needs.

- To work in accordance with trust policies, procedures & standard operating procedures as appropriate
- To undertake mandatory and other applicable training internally within the trust.
- To carry out on-the-job training in the duties of a pharmacy ATO, developing and maintaining the required knowledge, skills and attitudes to fulfil those duties as required.
- To engage in learning opportunities, including shadowing of more experienced staff members and requesting experience in particular areas of interest.
- To participate in any rota and/or internal team training opportunities to support flexible working; this will support cover where necessary; and maintain stores & ward-based competencies. This may include working on secure wards.
- To utilise the automated medicines management equipment, including robotic dispensing systems, following department standard operating procedures; and to respond appropriately to system failures and problems (to troubleshoot), escalating issues as required.
- To assist with the computerised and physical distribution of pharmaceutical products to all clients and departments, (including internal pharmacy or medicines management requisitions) ensuring documentation is completed appropriately.
- To accurately and efficiently supply stock and dispensed medicines, including supply of compliance aids and patient information leaflets.
- To provide support for unlicensed medicines, including maintenance of stock and records, in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- To participate in the supply of temperature-controlled products in line with standard operating procedures
- To be involved in the supply of clozapine to service users. This will include
- a) Dispensing of clozapine (including utilising compliance aids) in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- b) Liaising with patients, the clozapine monitoring service, and clinical team regarding the appropriate supply of clozapine.
- c) Receiving clozapine blood results.
- d) Issue of medication to clients at clozapine clinic.
- e) Organising the request and receipt of up-to-date clozapine prescriptions.
