Job summary
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacy technicians to join the Mersey Care Medicines Management Team. The Executive team at Merseycare recognise the value of pharmacy services and the team have secured a significant amount of additional funding to enable the transformation and expansion of clinical inpatient and dispensary services. The service has been restructured to support the new enhanced model and is working under a newly established senior management team which is fully committed to delivering outstanding pharmacy services and invest in the professional development of the pharmacy workforce.

Main duties of the job
This role provides an opportunity for technicians who are seeking a clinical ward-based role as part of a team of pharmacists, technicians and ATO's. They will also be required to provide one day per week in our new modern and purpose-built pharmacy located in Maghull Health Park. As a department we are embracing the Trusts ambition to digitally transform our services and have introduced new initiatives which include Ward based automation, EPMA and within our new department three automated dispensing systems including a Blister pack robot.
There are a number of posts available including relief posts, providing cover across different inpatient sites
There is a recruitment premium attached to the above posts. Successful candidates will receive a £2,000 payment on joining the Trust and an additional £2,000 on completion of the first year of employment. This recruitment payment must be paid back in full if the employee leaves the Trust within two years of starting.

The Higher level pharmacy technician role is predominantly ward based, but will spend 1 day per week in the dispensary to maintain ACPT competencies.Staff will support medicines reconciliation, providing a timely discharge service, working alongside the ward and pharmacy team to provide an efficient and accurate clinical pharmacy and medicines supply service to patients. Performing medicines reconciliation Assessing Patients own drugs PODS Developing and co-ordinating medication supply systems to meet the needs of patients Participating in the safe systems for the supply of medication to wards and community-based teams Performing final accuracy checking of dispensed prescriptions Supporting the supply of discharge and short-term leave medication at ward level Providing information to service users and their carers (where appropriate) about their medications in conjunction with the pharmacists Delivering training to a variety of Health Care professionals Completing audits and reports for example Controlled drug audits, safe and secure storage of medication audits etc. Education and training of junior technical and ward staffA current and valid BTEC accuracy checking qualification or willingness to work towards an accuracy checking qualification is required.For full information regarding required qualifications and experience please refer to the job description and person specification.The post-holder will be obliged to participate in our weekend and bank holiday rotas.
