Job summary

We are looking for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our older adult Inpatient Service on a permanent, full-time basis.

This role will be based at Heys court

Heys court is 1 ward which caters for older adult functional mental illness

Main duties of the job

The service uses the Model of Human Occupation to provide an assessment pathway to determine service user's current occupational performance. The role will also incorporate a mixture of individual and group interventions dependent on the needs of the service user. You will be an integral member of the MDT, contributing to ward rounds and helping to support with discharge planning.

As part of the role you will be responsible for supervising a Band 3 occupational therapy assistants. You will be supported by a Specialist Occupational Therapist in your role.

Job responsibilities

1) To undertake the assessment and treatment of service users with mental health and physical conditions guide by an Occupational Therapy frame of reference.2) To work closely with members of the MDT and communicate effectively all relevant information either verbally, written or electronically.3) To use treatment interventions which are up to date and use evidence based practice where possible.4) Attend clinical and professional meetings as required eg. MDT meetings, Basic Grade training, Staff meetings.5) Produce and maintain high quality, accurate and timely reports of assessments, treatment and evaluations.6) Assist in the education of Occupational Therapy students and other students on placement in the trust under the supervision of a practice placement facilitator.7) Contribute to the safety and security needs of Service Users, their Carers, Trust Colleagues and any visitor to Trust Premises, being mindful of appropriate standards and relevant policies and procedures e.g. infection control, risk assessment and management8) Take responsibility for own development through the Trusts PDP, keeping up to date with developments in Occupational Therapy and Mental Health and taking party in mandatory training as required.9) Maintain Confidentiality at all times10) Participate in setting and maintaining standards in Occupational Therapy and in Mersey Care Trust.11) Ensure that work is conducted in line with the Trusts Equality and Diversity Policy, reporting on incidents and complaints as required.12) Undertake relevant additional duties as requested by the Senior Occupational Therapist or Manager.13) To always behave in a manner that upholds the professional stature of Mersey Care Trust.
