Job summary

From the 1st November 2021 a Recruitment & Retention premia has been introduced to attract and retain qualified nurses within the Secure & Specialist Learning Disability Division and further support our "Grow Our Own Strategy". For our registered Mental Health and Learning Disability nurses across high, medium and low secure this will be a premia varying from £984 to £4034 depending on the area of the division you will be allocated to and based on the needs of the service at that time.

Mersey Care's Secure & Specialist Learning Disability Division Provides a wide range of services for people with complex needs. Within the learning disability services, all service users have a primary diagnosis of learning disability, often with additional diagnoses. Within Rowan View all service users are detained under the Mental Health Act and are supported by a multi-disciplinary team. As part of the MDT you will work with service users, families and carers, occupational therapists, psychology, social work and medics to provide a quality, effective and person centred treatment service.

Main duties of the job

As this role is specific to Learning Disability Nurses it will be to work in the learning disability services provided at Rowan View. However, there may be occasions where mobilization to our other services including and mental health services is required.

Presently, three medium secure wards dedicated to the Specialist Learning Disability, providing 46 beds. Partnered with secure Mental Health services offering an additional 5 wards. This modern, state of the art hospital provides care and treatment to both men and women with a learning disability. Whilst relational security and the capacity to work in an individualized and therapeutic way are central to the treatment offer, we are supported with the use of therapeutic technology for the benefit of service users and staff including virtual reality and avatar therapy.
