To work in the Liverpool Homeless and Hostel Service hosted at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
We are seeking to appoint a psychologist with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and relevant clinical skills and experience. This post will be a permanent, part time opportunity.
This is a new and exciting opportunity to be part of developing trauma-informed practice and psychologically informed environments within Liverpool adult homeless and hostel provision. The post holder will build on existing good practice to upskill and support the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) and hostel workforce to become more trauma-informed and build confidence with psychologically informed approaches.
Main duties of the job
This newly formed post will also include working alongside the rough sleeper team to utilise psychological assessment and formulations skills to better understand any mental health related difficulties within the rough sleeper population.
The post holder will work to develop relationships to enable homeless services to work alongside mental health services in a joined up and cohesive way, which puts the client at the centre. The post holder will work on building relationships and pathways with local providers to improve service accessibility for this population. The post holder will provide clinical leadership including delivering specialist training, advice, consultation and clinical supervision to enhance knowledge and skills amongst professionals in all relevant sectors

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology accredited by the BPS or its approved equivalent, (2)
- oWell developed and effective communication skills, oral and written, to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- oSkills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups
- oKnowledge of legislation in relation to client group and mental health
- oEvidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS
- oFormal training in supervision of other psychologists
- oAbility to identify provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours
- oAbility to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour
- oAbility to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
