We now have an exciting opportunity for a full time Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly Southport & Formby Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team.
The post holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team composed of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Vestibular Physiotherapy within the Southport & Formby Community Neuro Rehabilitation & Speech Language Therapy Team. The service aims to provide seamless care through community/home based rehabilitation to patients presenting with both neuro and non neuro speech and language therapy needs which may include the areas of dysphagia, dysfluency, head & neck and voice.

Main duties of the job
The main duties will be mostly clinical and post holder will be responsible to assist clinical lead with coordination of the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service, ensuring:
efficient management of clinical caseload and the waiting list is kept to a minimal;
demonstrate expert knowledge and clinical skills (including experience with video-fluoroscopy) ensuring it is in line with recent guidelines and evidence base practice; to use a variety of assessments skills and ability to evaluate treatment and set smart goals; to manage a complex caseload and be proactive to seek peer support when required;
to demonstrate multidisciplinary approach and respect the views of other MDT members;
demonstrate knowledge of different outcome measures and its application; to carry out complex risk assessment ensuring ability to sign post/advice/handle safeguarding cases/situations effectively and to demonstrate excellent documentation skills and ability to evaluate plan.

- Accredited Speech and Language Therapy qualification (BSc)
- Post graduate training/qualification in Dysphagia
KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE:

- Two years experience post qualification
- A philosophy and approach that empowers people
- Knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication and dysphagia
- A person-centred approach to service delivery
- Membership of Health Professionals Council
