Job summary
The Clinical Liaison Nurse group were established within this particular high secure setting to re-establish the balance between the clinical and security agendas following on from the Fallon Enquiry (1999). The team provides specialist advice on security issues relating to risk assessments, physical, procedural and relational security and security intelligence, with a focus on how these issues work together to ensure the highest level of patient care.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Security Clinical Liaison Department in High Secure services. Applicants must have a registered nurse qualification. You must also have experience of working within a high secure setting. The successful applicants must be able to work on their own initiative, have a sound knowledge of the Security Directives and take a lead role from a clinical liaison perspective in patient care team meetings and the wider service. You must be able to plan and adapt to the need of the service as required, in line with the NHS safety and security directions and local clinical security framework. Experience of working within these set guidelines is essential.
Main duties of the job
To have detailed knowledge and the practical skills, in order to carry out, all security duties as stated by the NHS Safety and Security Directive, and detailed in the Ashworth Security Procedures Manual.
Manage and be responsible for an identified patient caseload, which provides and compiles security profile information on individual patients. This specifically contributes to Risk Assessment strategies for the safe care and treatment of patients within this High Secure provision.
As a representative of the Security Department, to be part of an identified Multi Disciplinary Team. Providing specialist information on patient focused issues ensuring that Security Policies and Procedures, are applied and delivered effectively within ward/clinical settings and integrated into the CPA process.
Provide and actively participate in a patient centred CPA process by compiling written reports, clinically/security specific.
Responsible for the provision of professional advice relating to security matters, to a range of Services across the hospital and to patients and their relatives.
Within the Security Department, contribute to a network of Security Intelligence relating to security procedures, which provides upward briefing of Senior Hospital Managers.
To provide detailed and comprehensive reports on Clinical/Security issues to the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Security Operations Manager and Deputy Director of Security as requested.
