Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and creative individual to join the Community Learning Disability Team. Based at the Bridges Learning Centre, within the MDT. The post holder will provide Speech & Language Therapy assessment and interventions as part of a team approach.
We are interested in appointing either a a newly qualified Therapist (Band 5) or Specialist (Band 6) for this post. The development of Dysphagia competencies is essential for those applying as a band 5 - training will be provided and progression to Band 6 following competencies have been achieved.
Applying as a band 6 practitioner you should have a minimum of 2 years experience working with this client group and specialist knowledge of a specific area of interest such AAC or working with people with behaviours of concern, and have a post-basic dysphagia qualification. An ability to deliver training to others is essential

Main duties of the job
To provide a Specialist Speech and Language Therapy (Salt) Clinical Service to adults with a learning disability (LD) and communication difficulties and/or Dysphagia across the borough, both in the community and In-patient unit.
NB: Therapists without a Dysphagia qualification can train while carrying out the post.
To devise and provide specialist training courses.
