Job summary

To transport all Mersey Care service users between their place of residence and designated Day Hospitals, Mersey Care Locations, Courts and any other locations in the UK in a safe and secure manner.

Shortlisting is planned for 6th May 2021

Interviews are planned for 18th May 2021

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out daily vehicle maintenance checks and taking appropriate action as required. Work with other members of the Transport Department to ensure that vehicles are clean and fit for purpose at all times and ensuing all documentation complete.
  • To be accountable for recording accurate information regarding duties, driving hours, mileage, working hours, activities, vehicle searches, financial transactions and other information as required.
  • To be responsible for reporting to the line manager all untoward incidents and accidents so that the relevant paperwork is completed.
  • To transport all Mersey Care service users between their place of residence and designated Day Hospitals, Mersey Care Locations, Courts and any other locations in the UK in a safe and secure manner.
  • To assist patients and staff to enter and exit the vehicle in a safe manner
  • Full clean drivers licence

Principal Responsibilities:1. To work as members of a team, carrying out tasks as allocated and prioritized by the manager.2. To participate in training, including Mandatory training as required by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. To participate in performance management, PACE whilst maintaining personal responsibility to ensure that all required training is kept up to date.3. To adhere to and follow Trust and departmental procedures.4. The post holder will be expected to act as a team member in all areas of Facilities Secure Division.5. To carry out daily vehicle maintenance checks and taking appropriate action as required. Work with other members of the Transport Department to ensure that vehicles are clean and fit for purpose at all times and ensuing all documentation complete.6. To be accountable for recording accurate information regarding duties, driving hours, mileage, working hours, activities, vehicle searches, financial transactions and other information as required.7. To be responsible for reporting to the line manager all untoward incidents and accidents so that the relevant paperwork is completed.8. 11. Following appropriate training- to be responsible for the securing of powered and manual wheelchairs within the vehicle.12. To liaise with and maintain relationships with management, supervisory and nursing staff at all locations.13. To be responsible for liaising with relevant clinical staff for any concerns with reference to service users.14. To assist the nursing staff cleaning spillages within the vehicle.15. To ensure toilets on the vehicles are empty after use.16. To work an On call service as necessary to ensure a continuous 24 hour transport service for the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent

Desirable

  • NHS experience and training is safety, health, and any catering, cleaning, estates, portering, driving tasks

Knowledge/ Experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS in a role managed by a supervisor or facilities management assistant
  • Good geographical knowledge of Merseyside area and the UK

Skills
