Job summary
Mersey Care NHS Trust provides mental health, learning disabilities and substance misuse services across Merseyside. As part of Mersey Cares intention to improve and develop its services, the Trust has developed a network of knowledge and library services. These services support quality care by delivering an expert service that addresses the knowledge and information needs of health and social care staff, service users and carers.
The Library Services to Service Users is uniquely placed within the Trust and holds a variety of materials including books, DVDs, compact discs, and spoken word recordings. The base for the service is within the secure sites of Ashworth and service users have access to the service on a regular basis. All staff work as a team to provide a high standard of library services to the service users. The library operates as a branch of Sefton Public Libraries, the service being supported by a Service Level Agreement.
Main duties of the job
This post plays an active role in supporting, and contributing, towards the development of the various creative, artistic and educational activities within the Rehabilitation Service.

To support the smooth running of the Library Service to Service Users at various points within Secure Services.To collaborate with colleagues in other sectors to increase the availability of library resources for service users within Mersey Care NHS Trust.Assist the Librarian in the development of the collection and routinely maintain stock and resources, including the administration of purchases and the preparation of stock. Administer the general library visits and routine services, including day-to-day responsibility for the physical environment.Be responsible for the routine procedures of the library management system and other databases utilised to deliver an effective service.
