Expert Lead Cardiac Physiologist / Healthcare Scientist - Cardiac Rhythm Management

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and dynamic individual to lead our Cardiac Rhythm Management Service.

The role requires independent practice with expert-level skill and autonomy within a tertiary specialist Cardiac Rhythm Management service. The individual will also undertake a range of cardiac procedures supporting both secondary and tertiary cardiac services delivered by the Trust.

The successful applicant will be an expert, independent clinical practitioner, providing specialist clinical expertise at an advanced level. They will have a proven track record of teaching and training at both local and national levels.

The post holder will support the departmental management team by contributing to strategic leadership and service development. They must demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise workload independently, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality diagnostic services.

This position offers excellent developmental opportunities and requires a motivated individual who will act as a positive driver for change within cardiac rhythm management services at MFT.

Main duties of the job

Provide leadership and development for all practitioners in the Cardiac Physiology Department.

As an expert in the field of cardiac rhythm management, providing terrtiary level service for cardiac implantable devices.

Exercise initiative and judgement in solving problems and making decisions that affect own areas of work recognising when there is a need to refer problems to Senior Management or Consultant staff.

Independently collates complex clinical information from multiple sources to determine optimal procedure methodology.

Independently obtains and analyses complex data, performs complex calculations, determines interpretation and independently compiles accurate written complex technical reports for case notes.

Communicates independent interpretations of complex technical & physiological data to guide physicians throughout high risk provocative procedures (e.g. during complex device implantation, primary coronary angioplasty ).

Analyses highly complex data, performs complex calculations, determines interpretation and independently compiles accurate written complex technical reports for case notes.

Regularly supervises individuals working/observing in the clinical environment including visitors from other trusts and organisation.

  • MSc or practicing in an equivalent expertise at this level in cardiac procedures
  • Up to date ILS
  • IBHRE/BHRS Accreditation
