Job summary

The post holder will be a key member of the Sterile Services management team within the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The department provides sterile services to the five hospitals that comprise the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and other external hospitals and clinics.

The decontamination of medical Devices is a critical service to the delivery of patient care.

The Supervisor is responsible for the smooth running of the Decontamination Services Department. With a direct input to the level of efficiency, productivity and cost effectiveness of the department, as well as being able to boost the reputation of the service by gaining and maintaining the confidence of the Users. The post holder will coordinate the staff, prioritise and coordinate the day-to-day activities across the whole department for their shift as required to provide an efficient and quality driven service to theatres, the wider Trust and external customers.

To deputise for the Production Managers to ensure the department is adequately managed in their absence.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure that the service is provided efficiently and in accordance with the department's policies, procedures and Quality Management System.

The post holder will contribute fully as part of the DSD team to the full compliance of the department to ISO 13485:2016 and the UK MDR 2002.

The department processes approximately 35,000 instruments / instrument sets each month.

DSD is operational for the majority of a 24 hour a day 7 days a week period. The post holder may be contracted to work on any shift pattern to cover this period.

  • Good standard of Formal Education
  • GCSE Qualifications In English and Mathematics. (Or Equivalent)
  • TVQ or NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Decontamination or City and Guilds Decontamination accredited qualification or current equivalent Qualification and/or experience

Desirable

  • Attainment of E-learning National Decontamination Training Programme

Knowledge, Training & Experience

  • At least 1 year's previous Decontamination Services experience
  • Previous experience with operating modern machinery, in a production environment
  • Good IT skills & ability to use a data base tracking system
