Lung Cancer Screening Administrator

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the expanded Greater Manchester Lung Cancer Screening Programme. This award-winning programme delivers lung cancer screening to people aged between 55 and 74 years old, who have ever smoked in their lifetimes, from mobile clinics in the community.

This Lung Cancer Screening Administrator post will be mainly based at Wythenshawe Hospital with some cover on mobile clinics in the community in Greater Manchester (covering all localities). Training and induction will be completed at Wythenshawe hospital and at mobile sites (supermarkets and football stadiums) out in the community.Travel payments will be made for any travel completed above home to base mileage. Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the role is to support the management of patient pathways within the Greater Manchester Lung Cancer Screening Programme, ensuring timely diagnosis and treatment. The post holder will act as the primary administrative resource, supporting validation and tracking of patient pathways using bespoke systems such as Spectra-lung and Microsoft Office tools.

This role contributes to early lung cancer detection and improved patient outcomes. The post holder will work across both hospital and community-based mobile clinics, supporting operational to maintain patient safety and service efficiency.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Lung Cancer Screening standard protocol, including eligibility and CT breach procedures.

Complete patient courtesy calls.

Validate patient data across all points of the screening pathway using Spectra-lung and other clinical systems.

Monitor and track patient activity and referrals to ensure timely progression through the screening and diagnostic pathway.

Liaise with clinical and operational teams to ensure validation aligns with clinical practice and patient safety standards.

Provide performance updates and escalate potential breaches to the management team.

Travel to mobile screening sites (e.g., supermarkets, stadiums) across Greater Manchester as required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for mileage beyond home-to-base.
