Junior Locally Employed Doctor in Paediatric General Medicine

Job summary

This is to commence on the tier 1 (SHO grade) grade Rota in the Paediatric department. There are 12 doctors on the Tier 1 Rota Wythenshawe on a full shift Rota which includes daytime duties and 'on calls. The Rota is EWTD compliant. [HA(M1]

There is a detailed description of the paediatric department in the documents attached. The Tier 1 & middle grade doctors work on both the general paediatric ward (including high dependency unit and paediatric observation and assessment unit, the level 2 neonatal unit and outpatients' clinics (consultant supervised). The middle grade doctors are supported by separate consultant hot weeks on both the paediatric and the neonatal units, and there are separate on call Rota. There are full tier 1 Rota on both the paediatric and neonatal units.

The unit would help support the post holder to develop a special interest which would complement the department. The post holder will be expected to take part in audit, and teaching in the department and for medical students.

The Junior Clinical Fellow (JCF) position is suitable for doctors interested in gaining hands-on experience in neonatal intensive care, neonatal resuscitation, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) working. The post is particularly beneficial for those planning to enter higher specialist training in paediatrics/neonatology or considering alternative pathways such as CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration).

Attending weekly teaching sessions, simulation training, and neonatal grand rounds.

Engaging in quality improvement (QI), clinical governance, and research activities.
