We are looking for an experienced registered Learning Disability Nurse with the above passion and skill set to be a registered nurse manager within learning disability short breaks service. Come and join us and experience the difference that we can make together.

The role will involve leading and contributing to the effective provision of services to people with a learning disability and additional needs e.g. autism.

Using your broad range of communication skills and an evidence-based approach to care, you will work directly with individuals that use the service, their families and the people who support them in the assessment and planning processes including supporting people with complex and changing health care needs.

Together with the Community Matron you will develop the nursing service within the designated Community Learning Disability Service to manage the waiting list and referrals through allocation of work, supervision and support.

You will provide professional support to the respective Health Manager of the designated Community Adult Learning Disability Service.

Main duties of the job

To operationally manage the service providing short breaks and some outreach support to learning disabled people who present complex and challenging behaviour and Autism. The post holder will manage and supervise staff and ensure agreed assessments and programs of care are implemented following a positive behavior support model (PBS).

Essential

  • Registered Nurse in Learning Disability
  • Extensive work with adults with learning disabilities
  • Masters level or equivalent level of significant relevant experience
  • Up to date mentorship qualification and sign off

Desirable

  • Further training in the assessment and management of behavioural challenges.
  • Advanced leadership and managerial qualification
  • Community specialist practitioner
  • NVQ Level 5 or equivalent and have experience at senior level of running and managing a residential or care home setting.
