Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within The Paediatric Emergency Department at the Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital for a Band 6 Clinical Educator. The department is a busy inner city major trauma centre and sees around 50,000 children a year.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Ward Manager and the senior nursing team to ensure all staff, particularly new starters are supported to learn and develop new specialist skills.

This is an exciting prospect for an organised knowledgeable nurse proficient in caring for children in emergency settings and their families who wishes to gain further leadership and education/teaching experience.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work in collaboration Ward Manager with particular focus on;

Training and education, for staff, patients and carer's.

Supporting classroom teaching

Working alongside the MFT's education team becoming involved in the teaching of AIMs and trust induction

Working alongside staff to coordinate and teach complex discharge management and coordination.

Leadership and professional role modelling through preparation and coordination, complex communication, challenging practice as required and celebrating achievement as it occurs.

Review of pathways to identify training needs of staff and ensure appropriate education.

Review of local guidelines and protocols to ensure up to date and accessible to staff.

To continue to review and update the education strategy to ensure appropriate knowledge and skills of staff.

To participate in teaching/ training for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital "New Staff Induction Programme.

Supporting the ward manager to ensure quality, safety and patient experience.
