Job summary
Due to the increase in service demand and bespoke nature of the team, the Manchester and Trafford Community Response (MCR) IV Teams are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and motivated professional wishing to continue to develop / learn new skills in the insertion, care and management of vascular access devices within the MFT hospitals and community settings.
We are looking to recruit a band 6 clinical nurse specialist to provide vascular access advice, guidance & support to facilitate care which incorporates high quality clinical practice, without supervision but under the guidance of the Vascular Access Leads. You will work in collaboration with the city wide multi-disciplinary teams and in line with local and national guidance.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support in the scoping and designing vascular access services that will work across the primary and secondary care interfaces for Manchester/Trafford registered patients.
The role requires autonomous practice - assessing suitability of referrals, inserting devices, reviewing patients, audit of the service and developing training and education packages for nurses both in the hospitals as well as within community teams.
Service development is an important component of this job to ensure optimal benefits for service users. This would necessitate working closely with interventional radiology, infection specialists, hospital consultants, discharge planners as well as community nursing teams.
You will also work with providers to ensure an efficient and cost-effective service that is responsive and up to date with current practices. You will be required to work primarily within the acute Trust but also closely with the community IV teams as required providing them direct access to the vascular access service. You will be accountable to and by supported by the IV Vascular Access leads in each locality.
