Senior Nursing Assistant in Paediatric Urology

Job summary

An exciting 9 month secondment opportunity, to cover maternity leave, has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work within a highly skilled and specialised Paediatric Urology Team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as a senior nursing assistant.

Based across 2 Hospital sites (RMCH and Trafford), we care for patients from all over the country, providing comprehensive care in both an outpatient and in-patient setting. As one of only 2 centers in the UK to offer a specialist Bladder Exstrophy Service and as one of the leading centers within the field of Urology, you will be offered unique learning and developmental opportunities as part of your extensive induction and personal development plan.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary specialist team, and be actively involved in key aspects of the service such as:

  • Managing and being responsible for a diverse caseload of patients, with support from the medical and nursing team, as well as the wider MDT
  • With the support of the CNS, facilitating nurse led bladder clinics, including non-invasive Urodynamics e.g. Uroflows, EMG's and Biofeedback (pelvic floor training)
  • Manage patient workload effectively, ensuring patients are seen within an appropriate time frame from the point of referral
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families, working collaboratively to support Urotherapy advice, increasing compliance and improving clinical outcomes
  • Contribute to clinical research and data collection, with potential to present findings alongside the rest of the wider Urology team.
