Job summary
The post-holder will assume a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and the proper functioning of their department. Responsibility for specialist investigations and care planning are crucial, and there are multi-disciplinary team meetings in all areas to ensure high quality care and best practice is followed. Post-holders are expected to refer patients through these designated pathways.
The post-holder must take reasonable care of their own health and safety and any other personnel who may be affected by their omission. Trust policies and regulations must be followed at all times.
Main duties of the job
- To be involved in cardiac surgery services including clinics, MDTs, ward rounds and 1:5 aortic dissection on calls
- To support the needs of codependent services at MRI as part of the wider consultant team (e.g. contribute to cover for emergencies as part of the on call rotas)
- To be involved in aortic dissection services
- To deliver excellent tertiary level cardiac surgery services at a regional level
- To contribute to the planning and development of cardiac surgery services
- To contribute to on call services for cardiac surgery
- To provide flexible support and develop in-reach services across MFT sites
- To support teaching, innovation and research within the department, particularly in the field of Aortic dissection and chronic aortic conditions
- To be involved in developing academic research with University of Manchester
