Main duties of the job

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadershipand deliver high-quality, family-focused care for all patients attending the Paediatric Emergency Department (PED).
  • Act as Trauma Team Leader, Resus Team Leader, and Emergency Physician in Charge.
  • Share knowledge to support the development of medical and nursing staff through shop-floor teachingand contribution to the PED education programme.
  • Ensure safe and effective operation of the Paediatric Emergency Departmentand Children's Clinical Decision Unit.
  • Lead the development of standards, protocols, and systems that ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care from entry to discharge/admission.
  • Drive innovation and quality improvement, working in collaboration with the wider TeamPED.

  • MB ChB or equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in either Emergency Medicine or Paediatrics with a subspecialty registration in Paediatric Emergency Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants who are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
