Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team on Acute Cardiac Centre. We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative nurse to work and lead our team to help deliver high quality care to our patients.ACC is a 19 bedded coronary care unit, which specialises in the care of patients with heart failure, adult congenital heart disease, and those who have undergone advanced cardiology interventions in our cardiac catheter labs following a number of advanced cardiology interventions such as primary PCI.

You will be an experienced staff nurse looking for a challenge in order to progress your career in nursing. You will demonstrate excellent knowledge and previous experience of caring for cardiac patients as well as processing excellent leadership skills. You will be working collaboratively with other MDT members. You will be confident in working under your own initiative and able to prioritise your clinical care and work load accordingly.You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills with the full assistance of the ward manager and matron. You will receive a full induction and will be supported by the specialist education team to become a competent junior sister / charge nurse. We hold annual appraisals and regular 1:1 meetings to guide you in the new role and discuss what can be done to support you.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assess, plan implement and evaluate the care for these patients supporting and guiding junior staff in the process. The post holder will provide direct patient care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area. The post holder will assist the senior Sister/Charge Nurses in ensuring that high standards of quality of care are delivered & maintained. The post holder will act as a positive role model within the department for staff patients and carers. The post holder will deputise for the senior sister as required. The post holder will enable nurses to acquire clinical and professional competencies by facilitating high quality education and staff development opportunities.
