Job summary

The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge whilst demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, treatment, and management for patients with rheumatological conditions. The individual will monitor and improve standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audits, evidence-based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership, e.g. nurse-led Early Arthritis Clinics. The individual will actively contribute to the clinical governance processes within the service, working within NICE guidelines for anti-TNF/JAK-inhibitor Biologic therapy clinics.

The successful candidate will be required to work at NMGH, However initial training for the position will take place at ORC

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a team of rheumatology nurses and clinical support workers ensuring communication is exceptional at all times

Ensuring the nursing advice line is a priority throughout the working day, responding to and triaging phone calls in a timely and professional manner

Working alongside the rheumatology MDT and providing collaborative patient care

Nurse led clinics will be 50% of the new candidates role once training period is successful

Recognising opportunities for quality improvement and assisting the senior rheumatology nurse in the implementation and audit of these ideas

Ensuring the department is organised, clean and tidy assisting the clinical support workers to set up and clean down after clinic

Using the RCN rheumatology nurse framework the candidate will ensure that each aspect of this framework is acknowledged

There may be the opportunity to learn how to administer soft tissue and joint injections as part of the role

Ensuring patient satisfaction is key - good communication and listening skills are pertinent.

Using the computer daily is part of the role, having good IT skills is important especially with the role out of our new electronic patient record "The HIVE" in September 2022

Recognising the wider MDT and awareness of staff wellbeing and the importance of this.

Supporting our student nurses to become an exceptional future nursing workforce to be proud of.
