Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic locum consultant paediatrician with expertise in community child health to help deliver a highly-regarded service for children in Manchester.
The post is currently 7 PAs/this can be discussed.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic, forward looking and well established team of Consultant Community Paediatricians providing citywide community paediatric services across Manchester. The department works closely with other community health services including community children's nursing, health visiting, school nursing, and physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy. It provides services in partnership with acute hospital services, the local authority, voluntary organisations and other agencies that provide health and social care to meet the health needs of local communities.
The community paediatricians hold regional leadership roles in community child health, safeguarding, adoption and fostering and Looked after children, palliative care, sudden unexpected death in childhood. Community Paediatrics is part of Manchester Children's Community Health Services (CCHS) Directorate in MLCO. The Community Paediatric department provides a citywide community paediatric service from an office base near Manchester city centre.
The appointee will be clinically and managerially responsible to the Clinical Director, who reports to the Associate Medical Director for CCHS for the community aspects of the work.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a locality-based service to children in the area including assessment of children with developmental delay and disability, covering a special school clinic, assessment of looked after children and children suffering suspected abuse, preparation of statutory reports for Social Services and Special Educational Needs and Disability, and attendance at review and planning meetings as required.
The post holder will be the lead for North Ridge specialist high school.The post holder will contribute to work improving transition to adult services.
The post holder will take part in the initial health assessments for looked after children (Our Children) and the child protection rota which operate as daily clinics during weekdays.
Applicant must be fully registered medical practitioners and must possess a CCT in paediatrics.
