Job summary

Are you looking for a new challenge? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed dental nursing assistant to join our team in at Manchester Dental Hospital on a part time contract. This is an exciting and key role in which you will work closely with the nursing and domestic staff to ensure a safe, clean and organised clinical department.You will provide close support to the Dental Nursing team by maintaining high standards of infection control and supporting our patients whilst undergoing dental treatment. Confident, competent, self-motivated and enthusiastic are all attributes required for these positions as well as the ability to work as part of the dental team. You must be able to communicate effectively with patients, clinicians and other healthcare professionals and demonstrate very high standards.In return, we will provide you with a full induction and support you with a personal development plan and ongoing training when required. You will also benefit from being an employee for a large Trust and so be made aware of up and coming projects and opportunities that there may be.

Main duties of the job

You will take responsibility for ensuring that all medical equipment is clean and well maintained and liaise with the domestic supervisors and staff to ensure cleaning is of a high standard. You will play an essential role during clinic hours, ensuring the clinics are patient and carer friendly, water dispensers are clean and well stocked with cups, waiting areas are well maintained for public use. You will take responsibility for ensuring the clinics have adequate equipment and stock. You will undertake reporting any estates work and request for portering services.

In addition, you will be responsible for assisting the team in continuous quality improvement work by undertaking audits on the Department. The role also entails keeping ward information boards up to date, and friends & family feedback is maintained.

As a Dental Nursing Assistant, you must have a high standard of education, you might already have some experience in a similar role and good communication skills are a must. You must be able to empathise with and consider patients as you go about your duties, you will have an organised and positive approach to ensure the takes at hand are carried out in a timely, effective manner. You need to be dynamic in your approach, and willing to learn and be able to work well within the team or independently.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Holds National Care Certificate or be willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks of starting.
  • Level 2 Apprenticeship in health care OR Gain equivalent knowledge and skill undertaking the Trust Clinical Support Worker Development Programme.
  • On completion of the Trust Clinical Support Worker Development Programme demonstrating evidence of clinical knowledge, skill and competency the worker will move to band 3 AfC.
  • Holds Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or education equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience working in a healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a health care environment.
