Job summary
We would like to invite applications for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in General and Colorectal Surgery, based at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This post is suitable for a trainee who has completed CST training and has passed the MRCS.
Fellows can expect a broad case mix including general surgery and colorectal surgery with exposure to pelvic floor surgery. The fellow will participate in the on-call rota at Specialty Registrar level (full shift, 1:10).
Candidates who are unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time are eligible to apply and, if successful, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis, in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job
To provide a training in general and colorectal surgery (emergency and elective). The post is fixed term for a 6-month period (which can be extended to 12-months).
Applicants should possess FRCS or equivalent and must be fully registered (or eligible for full registration) with the GMC with Licence to Practise.
The fellow will benefit from consultant-led training in the operating theatre. They will also participate in out-patient clinic sessions, theatre lists and teach foundation doctors/medical students as required
The fellow can expect to gain experience in general and colorectal surgery including emergency general surgical procedures.
The fellow will have the opportunity to be involved in audit and research and will be supported and encouraged to take up leadership and service improvement roles.
The fellow will join the 1:10 full shift on-call rota in General Surgery at Specialty Registrar level.
