We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and compassionate Maternity Support Workers with a passion to be a key part of the patient care journey here at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). You'll communicate in a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients, relatives, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, working over 5 days Monday-Friday during the outpatient clinic hours of 8am-6pm

Main duties of the job

Working under the supervision of Registered Midwives and within Trust guidelines and protocols, you'll assist the Midwifery team in delivering the excellent patient care you would expect for yourself and your loved ones.

Working alongside the Midwifery team, you'll assist in delivering patient focused care to mothers & babies in the Antenatal, Intrapartum & Postpartum periods.

You will support women with personal care needs, including mobilising, toileting, bathing, dressing & providing emotional care & support for families with the care of their baby.

Following on the job training and assessment, you'll learn how to undertake a range of delegated, duties including undertaking & recording observations, breast feeding support & parent education.

If you are new to working in healthcare, you'll be supported to develop yourself through our Support Worker Development Programme for Maternity Support Workers. The great news is, the completion of this Programme will give you the opportunity to progress into a Band 3 Maternity Support Worker role.

If you're an experienced Maternity Support Worker seeking a new opportunity, you'll undertake a skills analysis to ensure you meet the requirements of the role. If there are gaps in your knowledge, you'll be supported to access relevant clinical modules to support your progression to a Band 3 post.

Evidence of prior learning will be reviewed & considered.
