Job summary

We are Manchester Local Care Organisation - an exciting, new public sector organisation that is bringing together NHS community health services and social care services in the city. We're driven by the aim of improving the health of local people in Manchester by working across organisational boundaries.

The first health and social care staff have been deployed to us from April 2018 and are now starting to work in new ways across the city. Our teams work as one in the neighbourhoods they serve - delivering and designing services in partnership with local people. We also provide key services that work across wider localities and city-wide. We believe that our pioneering approach will make a massive difference to the health of people in our city and we are looking for you to join our team and help us do this.

The Dermot Murphy Unit is based in the M20 locality of South Manchester close to the Metro and Bus links. Built in its own beautiful grounds, this modern and purpose built unit has its own parking provided.

Main duties of the job

The unit is a Continuing Healthcare nurse led facility, which accommodates 22 residents with complex and unpredictable physical healthcare needs e.g. following and acquired brain injury or a diagnosis of a progressive neurological, respiratory, cardiac or renal disease. We are able to care for patients in need of complex airway or feeding regimes, up to and including full invasive ventilation.

The accommodation and environment are designed to deliver flexible and person centred care for each person and we aim to create a "home from home" atmosphere for all our patients. We employ our own chef and social event coordinator which enable our patients to live life to the maximum.

We are now recruiting band 5 staff nurses and are looking for individuals who have excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic approach to nursing.

In return we can offer you a rewarding and friendly environment to work within and support you in developing your role

We welcome informal visits

This post does require weekend and bank holiday working as well as internal rotation onto nights
