Job summary
This post is a Locum paediatric respiratory post working within one of the largest paediatric respiratory units in the UK and supporting, via out-reach clinics, children living with Long Term respiratory needs and Cystic Fibrosis throughout the Northwest. It's an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive Respiratory department at RMCH, which manages complex respiratory patients within the region and quaternary patients within specific sub-specialties.
Applicants should have specialist accreditation in respiratory paediatrics, and preferably a higher post-graduate degree. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the development of respiratory services for children at MFT.
Main duties of the job
The clinical aspects of the post will be overseen by the Specialist Medicine Division of Children's Services of Manchester University NHS Trust. The post-holder will work closely with all members of the consultant respiratory team. The appointee will provide in and outpatient care for patients with complex respiratory disease/CF. The hot week consultant will be responsible for the day to day care of all inpatients admitted under the respiratory team. They will also be responsible for all new inpatient referrals to the service during the working week whether they be from within MFT or outside. The appointee will be expected to contribute to this on a 1:7 basis. It is expected that all consultants will support the hot week consultant in advising about the management of patients under their long term care.
