Job summary
Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) is a large tertiary Children's Hospital that provides regional and supra-regional services to include most dietetic clinical paediatric specialties. Due to an internal promotion we have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 paediatric dietitian to join our dynamic and expanding paediatric dietetic team.
We are based in the 371 bed, purpose built hospital in the middle of Manchester's vibrant city Centre, where we continue to develop our paediatric dietetic service to reflect state of the art facilities in the largest single-site children's hospital in the UK. Weoperate as a RMCH wide paediatric dietetic service and provide support to paediatric dietetics acrossour Wythenshawe and north Manchester sites also.
Dietitians are well respected and valued members of RMCH multi-disciplinary teams, and provide both IP and OP services to a comprehensive range of paediatric Tertiary , secondary and neonatal specialtiesAs a team we pride ourselves on the quality of the service we provide and the improved outcomes for our patients and we are always striving to improve by being dynamic and responsive to ideas.
Main duties of the job
Our RMCH dietetic service is led by a professional paediatric dietetic lead and;
- 4 x B8a clinical specialist / paediatric dietetic team leads
- 1 x ACP in ketogenic diet therapies
- 22 x B7 paediatric dietitians
- 9 x B6/5 rotational paediatric dietitians
- 4 x paediatric dietetic assistant
- Special Feeds Unit supervisors and assistants
Paediatric dietetic experience is ideal although not essential as we can fully support your development within our rotational posts.
The rotational posts change approximately every 18 months and work alongside more experienced dietitians in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The rotations provide opportunity to gain experience across a broad spectrum of clinical specialties and different MDT; e.g. metabolic diseases, ketogenic diets, neuro , critical care ,renal, gastroenterology (Coeliac, IBD, PN and EN), allergy, eating disorders, diabetes.
- We are looking for HCPC registered dietitians who have a good foundation in acute NHS hospital dietetics together with evidence of ongoing CPD and knowledge
- We offer a comprehensive inhouse training package of tutorials individually tailored to your rotation and developmental needs.
- There is potentially the opportunity to attend the BDA paediatric master's modules(currently online)
- You must show an enthusiasm for working with children and their families
