Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us in developing the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. This is a full time 10 Programmed Activity (PA) post.
Applicants for this post must have extensive experience in general medical, surgical (including neonatal), cardiac and neurosurgical paediatric intensive care.
RMCH is designated as a Lead Centre for PICU within the UK and participates in the training of Grid Trainees in Paediatric Intensive Care. There are approximately 4000 intensive care bed days per year (over 750 admissions per year). Day to day care of children in the PICU is managed and led by the team of eight WTE PICU consultants in consultation with subspecialties as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) have joined together to create a new Foundation Trust, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). As a result, it's an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity. Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester, where these changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the communities we serve.
Duties will be based in PICU at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital to provide direct clinical care. The successful candidates will join the team providing 24-hour cover for PICU. They will work as part of theconsultant team and provide rota cover for the unit. Consultant cover is provided on site from 08:00 until 22:00 seven days a week with on call cover out of these hours and the job plan reflects this.
