Job summary

Manchester Royal Eye Hospital is the second largest regional ophthalmic teaching centre in the United Kingdom outside of Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. The Fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery provides advanced sub-specialty training as part of the role of the sub-specialty training unit in Oculoplastics.

There are five Oculoplastic Consultants: Mr Saj Ataullah, Miss Anne Cook, Mr Paul Cannon Mr Aruna Dharmasena and Mr James Laybourne.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for one 12 months fellowship post in Oculoplastics in one of the largest provincial ophthalmic unit in the UK. One post is to commence 1st week of August 2025, with a further two posts commencing February 2026.

Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH) is a major tertiary referral centre with complex Oculoplastic cases being received from across the North West, from North Wales up to Cumbria. The MREH Oculoplastic Fellowship has gained a National and International reputation for the breadth and complexity of cases fellows are exposed to. Lacrimal, adnexal and orbital experience, both adult and paediatrics, is on offer, with an acute specialty on call system, and the opportunity to work with 5 experienced consultants. In addition, there is a wide range of MDT input, including Head and Neck, Radiology, Skin, Skull base, Thyroid/endocrinology, and Facial Function clinics.
