Job summary
A vacancy have arisen for an experienced maintenance assistant to join our operational estates team.
The post holder will work mainly unsupervised undertaking and assist with essential repair works and general maintenance activities in healthcare buildings at the request of the Estates Supervisor (Operations) and carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with Trust procedures.
We require a highly motivated individual to join our team. You will be an experienced maintenance person, qualified to an appropriate level of competence (City and Guilds Level 2 in relevant Building Services Engineering or significant equivalent experience, and all round knowledge of building services operation and maintenance).
Previous work in a healthcare environment will be an advantage.
Good communication skills are essential, as is a flexible approach and willingness to undertake further job training as required. You must be numerate and literate with good written and personal skills. Experience of using electronic record keeping systems will also be an advantage.

Main duties of the job
- Provide a professional robust estates maintenance and repair service across Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington, Altrincham (WTWA) Opal House and associated 'Off Campus' Properties.
- Have basic skills and knowledge of electrical, mechanical, carpentry, landscaping and construction trades to undertake maintenance, repair and installation work.
- To ensure that the properties are maintained in accordance with the service level agreements and to the appropriate quality and standards expected.
- To maintain a high-quality environment for both clinical and non-clinical staff, patients and visitors.
- Assist with other estates staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
- To assist, plan and organise operational maintenance for the Trust under guidance;
- Execute a range of controlled operations e.g. isolations, interruptions of electrical supplies, under guidance.
- Provide estates assistance across the WTWA sites as required for resilience and as instructed by senior staff.
- Be flexible in working hours to achieve the operational delivery for the WTWA sites, particularly during periods of cold weather where gritting may be required.
- Full UK driving licence is required
