Job summary

We are Manchester Local Care Organisation - an exciting, new public sector organisation that is bringing together NHS community health services and social care services in the city. This post is positioned within the Manchester School Health Service, part of the Children's Community Health Services Directorate in Manchester Local Care Organisation. The School Health Service operates citywide across Manchester working in partnership with schools to improve the health outcomes of children, young people and their families. Comprising of six child focused functions, namely, the Healthy Child Programme (HCP), Immunisation; National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and Screening; Healthy Schools Programme; Vulnerable School Children's Team (VSCT) and the Healthy Weight Team, the School Health Service contributes to tackling health inequalities by addressing the city's key public health priorities for children.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership support and professional direction to ensure effective delivery of the School Age Immunisation programme.

Be proactive in the identification of service development in consultation with Team Leads and Heads of Service and participate in developing, monitoring and evaluating quality standards within the service.

Provide support, advice and supervision for all Team member.

Complete appraisals, 121's and competencies and training.

Act as a role model, through practice with positive attitude and presentation.

Provide pre and post registration student nurses and new starters with relevant and suitable experiences within public health service to include teaching and assessment throughout their placement.

Develop and maintain effective communication networks and work collaboratively with key partners, statutory and voluntary agencies to actively promote national and local public health priorities.

Develop own leadership skills to include writing agenda, chairing of team meetings, recruitment processes and Public Health initiatives; Acting as a source of support to junior staff.

Maintain professional standards of record keeping and storage in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) guidelines, Data Protection Act and MFT policies and procedure.

To liaise with school staff as appropriate to ensure an effective communication system.

To support the service staff rotation programme.
