Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Midwife to join the Lotus Midwifery Team at St Mary's at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester Foundation Trust. This award winning team was set up in November 2021 to provide bespoke Specialist Care to pregnant women and their families during pregnancy loss, and in a subsequent pregnancy, within the Managed Clinical Service.

The post holder will be expected to participate in assessment, planning and delivery of direct midwifery and bereavement care over a 7 day period. Care is provided in all settings, including delivery suite, birth centre, clinics and community. The team has a focus on delivering outstanding bespoke care across the board they will also ensure, in collaboration with the manager, the delivery of the highest-quality care. The post includes working days, weekends, bank holidays and potentially nights.

Main duties of the job

The Lotus Team is a Specialist Team providing bespoke care to families following pregnancy loss, care is provided throughout the pregnancy continuum from booking until postnatal discharge. Care is also provided to bereaved families (including terminations of pregnancy), again antenatally, at delivery and in the postnatal period.

This position is ideal for an experienced and confident band 6 midwife, with a passion for individualised compassionate care wishing to support families through their pregnancies. Much of the care provided is for high-risk pregnancies, therefore you will be expected to work in all areas, including delivery suite and community. Experience in high-risk care within these areas may be useful, but not essential. Due to workload and clinic schedules there are times when you may be lone working, the team manages its own diary, providing a degree of flexibility to meet service users' needs, therefore you need to have the ability to prioritise and organise your schedule while working alongside and feeding back to other members of the team.

Some knowledge and experience of bereavement care would be useful, but full training and support will be provided. Support will be given to all new team members, designed around your development needs, to ensure confident midwifery practice.
