Job summary

Manchester Local Care Organization is recruiting a motivated and dynamic Lead Occupational Therapist to work within the Central MLCO, Community Stroke Team

The service provides rehabilitation for adults following a stroke and also input throughout a stroke survivors life as required. Assessment and intervention take place in a variety of settings including patient's home, residential or nursing homes and community clinics and therefore the candidates are required to have the ability to travel across the city to fulfil the role. The successful candidate will provide leadership for highly skilled Occupational Therapists within a multidisciplinary team of professionals. They will be competent to manage a caseload of complex cases and be able to develop and support the Occupational Therapists and wider team.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop leading service delivery, change and staff development. They will be passionate in delivering high quality services and have experience of working as part of larger integrated health and social care system.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as Lead Occupational Therapist for the Community Stroke Team.
  • Supporting team members to deliver on their objectives through offering advice, guidance and support as appropriate with the focus being on delivering a high quality and efficient rehabilitation service to patients of all complexity in a variety of settings.
  • Act autonomously in the management of an adult caseload with a varying degree of complexity and to lead relevant service developments alongside the service lead.
  • To supervise and support staff including band 6 Occupational Therapists by providing appraisals, supervision sessions and peer support and the training of junior staff including students.
