Job summary

This is a good opportunity to work as a healthcare assistant with speech and language therapists in a busy multi-disciplinary team at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. The Cleft lip and palate team work with children and young people/adults who have a repaired cleft lip and palate or 'nasal' speech problems requiring surgery and /or speech therapy. Patients attend the Unit from all over Greater Manchester, parts of Lancashire and Cheshire..

The post holder will be supporting the work of a team of specialist speech and language therapists, largely carrying out administrative duties but also occasionally working with clients with the support of a fully qualified therapist. The admin type duties include making and designing therapy resources (paper based and electronic), transferring and editing digital video speech samples, taking and distributing minutes of meetings for example.

The post holder should have good communication skills and experience of working with children. Creativity for designing and making speech therapy resources/games would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the cleft lip and palate speech and language therapy team as an assistant practitioner providing a range of support to enable the team members to work effectively

Using creative and IT skills to support the speech and language therapists work with children and families
