Job summary
The Department is within the Division of Surgery, and serves a population of 800,000. The Trust provides both outpatients, inpatient and daycase elective and non-elective services from North Manchester General Hospital and also delivers clinics and day case surgery at Fairfield General Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary, The Royal Oldham Hospital and Tameside General Hospital with referrals received from the community teams, GPs, GDPs and hospital consultant colleagues. The OMFS service includes the departments of Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery across the four sites.
Main duties of the job
This is a substantive post which aims to improve service provision within the restorative dentistry department. All postings are closely supervised and supported by senior colleagues.
A rich environment of clinical supported training in basic oral surgical skills, out and in patient care, with training in ALS and other medical and surgical basic clinical skills appropriate to the clinical care of our patients.
Periods of duty will be defined in accordance with the rota prepared by the Medical Officer in charge. The current work pattern is for 2PAs compliant to New Deal and EWTD hours of work regulations.
The successful candidate will be located mainly at the Royal Oldham hospital and will have a special interest in endodontics.
The main duty and responsibility of the role is to assist the current consultants in restorative Dentistry with the Endodontic aspect of the treatment waiting list. It is envisaged as the role progress there may be other opportunities to develop the role and see new patients for consultations and to carry out other aspects of restorative dentistry and a named consultant.
